About The Event

We grow our Shiitake mushrooms on pieces of oak, sugar maple, and beech logs. Each log is about 4-8" in diameter and 3-4 feet long. To grow Shiitake mushrooms, we must "inoculate" the log with Shiitake mycellium. To do this we drill little holes in the logs and then fill them with a sawdust mixture containing the Shiitake mycellium. Then over the course of many months, the mycellium will colonize the log and we will get Shiitake mushrooms!
